Something not working? Talk to a person.

PC Tether is made by an independent developer, so your message reaches the person who can actually fix it. Most things below solve themselves in a minute. If not, write to us and we will answer.

Common fixes

The phone cannot find my PC

Check the PC app is actually running. It sits in the system tray near the clock rather than keeping a window open, so it is easy to think it closed when it did not. If it is running, make sure the PC is awake. A sleeping computer cannot answer.

It connected, then dropped

This is almost always the PC going to sleep on its own. In Windows, open Settings, then System, then Power, and set the sleep timer to Never while you are away from the machine. If it keeps dropping while the PC is definitely awake, write to us with the time it happened.

The picture is slow or blurry

Both ends share whatever connection they have. A phone on a weak mobile signal is the usual cause. If you can, put the phone on Wi-Fi and try again. If it is slow on a good connection, that is worth an email.

I need to unpair a phone

Open the PC app and find the Paired phones list. Press Remove beside the phone you want out, then press it again to confirm. It loses access immediately. Do this first if you lose a phone, before anything else.

I lost my phone

Remove it from the Paired phones list on the PC, as above. That cuts it off straight away. If you cannot reach the PC, email us and we will help you cut access another way.

Privacy and your data

Your screen and your files go straight between your own two devices, sealed end to end. How the encryption works explains what our relay can and cannot see. Full detail is in the privacy policy, and the terms are here.

Reporting a security problem

If you have found a security flaw, please write to support@pctether.com with the subject line "Security". Tell us what you found and how to reproduce it. We will confirm we received it, and we will not take any action against you for telling us.
